Living The Dream in Bali
I recently got back from a trip around Asia - covering Thailand, Bali and Japan. This with was the fourth winter in a row I made a point of escaping the UK to somewhere warmer and all-round less depressing, but this was also my longest stint yet at 3 months. Not only this, but I travelled almost entirely solo - only spending the first week there with a couple of friends before going off on my own.
My second month was spent in Bali, where I first started in Ubud before visiting Kintamani and Canggu. Thankfully, I have some friends who have relocated to Bali in recent years, two of which (Gigi May AKA Trixie Mae Pixie and Lux Lucis) are models, while another (Rob Voodoo) is a photographer. This seemed like far too good an opportunity to miss out on us doing a shoot - so when Rob told me he and Lux were already looking at renting a villa for a shoot with circus/pole artist Mel Lee for this reason, we decided it would make total sense for me to join with Gigi and we turn it into a whole weekend of multiple shoots!
If you’re ever looking for a villa or house for a photoshoot in Canggu, Bali - I highly recommend Palm Island Villa ! It’s an incredible space with 3 bedrooms, an open plan kitchen/living area that’s completely open air on one side, and definitely one of the more interesting looking pools we found! We spent 2 days and nights here, and it was such a fun experience - plus, it worked out incredibly affordable for all involved once we all chipped in for the cost. We found the villa through AirBnB, and there was a plethora of other incredible places within a similar price-range. Bear in mind we were there during low/rainy season (February), so prices were probably lower than they would be in high season (thankfully we only had one brief rain shower during our stay!).
Gigi May (AKA Trixie Mae Pixie) is a wonderful acrobat, burlesque and fire performer and a content creator from the UK currently based in Bali. You can follow her here.
